'Three Days' - Vaster Than Empires

Dear Friends -

During the summer of 2021, Erica Dicker and I travelled to New Richmond, OH to make music with our friend and collaborator Allen Otte at his remote, forested, A-frame hideaway. The three of us have been performing and recording together as the trio Vaster Than Empires since 2012.

After months of lockdown and isolation, the trip was a joyous and cathartic three day reunion. Last summer, we returned to the recordings we made during those days together and edited them into an album - which we’re extremely excited to share with all of you.  

The record, Three Days, will be released this Friday, April 28, on New Focus Recordings - streaming on all platforms and available on CD!

My concert series at the University of the Arts, ‘Out of the Box’, was back this spring with visiting artist, Julius Masri.

Julius brought in two exciting projects - Superlith II - his duo with trombonist Dan Blacksberg, which features Julius’s work with circuit bent electronics -

and Dromedaries II - his trio with saxophonist Keir Neuringer and bassist Shayna Dulberger, with Julius behind the drum kit -

Both groups have exciting, well reviewed recent releases which are worth a spin!
